COMPLEXE FORM

To quite some extent, ‘Kaos’ is a likeness to another luminaire model that’s been successfully introduced to the market by the Vibia venture. Both designs are materialised with perfectly skilled handiwork, and both aim at cheating the viewer’s senses. While ‘Aina’ (md 7/2002) makes the user believe at first that its shade consists of plaited fabric while in actual fact it’s made of porcelain, ‘Kaos’ makes him or her believe at first that here’s a whole collection of intrinsically related luminaires, though that’s far from it. This shade of blown glass is always the same. It has an elliptical, slightly conical basic shape, whose upper half swivels by 90 degs. This light head is alternatively suspended from the ceiling by the use of two filigree metal threads, or it rests on a flat matt white porcelain base.
